Obituary For Wilma Jean Hale

Wilma Jean Hale, 76, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia. She was born on February 19, 1947, in Arkansas City, KS, the daughter of Paul Banister and Cora (Stephens) Banister, who preceded her in death.

On July 18, 1986, in Hominy, OK, she was united in marriage to James D. Hale, who preceded her in death on August 8, 2010.

Wilma was a quiet and simple woman who enjoyed crocheting, gardening, puzzles, and listening to her classic country music.

Survivors include nine children, Tena Banister of Holt, MO, Teletha Caudill of Hamilton, OH, James Hale Jr. of Hominy, OK, Steven Hale and wife Lesa of Kansas City, KS, Stella Hicks and late husband Carl of Kansas City, MO, Angela Sykes of Buckner, MO, Cherry Wineland and late husband Tony of California, MO, William Hale and wife Kristen of Shawnee, KS, and Tracie Hale of Sedalia, MO; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Banister, Jr., of Osceola, MO and Melvin Banister of Arkansas City, KS.

In addition to her husband and parents, Wilma was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Banister, and three sisters, Beverly Peterson, Navela Banister, and Pauline Simpson.

Graveside service and burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2023, at Wheeler Cemetery, Dixon, MO, with Pastor Shelby Barnhart officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friday prior to the graveside at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.

Pallbearers will be Bill Hale, Darrell Hale, Donnie Hale, Dalton Armstrong, Shelby Sykes, and Shane Hicks.

Honorary bearers will be Brantley Wineland.
