Obituary For William "Leon" Hutcherson

William "Leon" Hutcherson, 82, passed away Friday, December 23, 2016 at Good Samaritan Care Center in Cole Camp, MO. He was born May 11,1934 in Shackleford, MO to parents Garnett Leon and Mary Elizabeth (Tobin) Hutcherson, who preceded him in death.

He was united in marriage to Beverly Dennis.

Leon was a graduate of Marshall High School and Missouri Valley College. He then went on to work the family farm in rural Sweet Springs, Mo. The family later moved to Sweet Springs where he co-owned with wife Beverly; Beverly's Dress Shop and Beverly's Cafe. In the mid 70's he became a truck driver for Howard's Construction when the family moved to Sedalia. He also resided at the Lake of the Ozarks for a number of years, then in 2004 became a resident of Craig, CO before moving back to Missouri last year. He enjoyed a simple life and loved to just sit and read a good western.

Leon is survived by his daughter, Kelly Chaplin (Greg) of Smithton, MO; his stepdaughters, Laura Lenz (Todd) of Jefferson City, MO and Sherrie Schmidt (Paul) of Leavenworth, KS; a grandson, Jacob Leon Chaplin; step grandchildren, Travous and Katie Lenz; sister-in-law, Claudia Hutcherson of Marshall, MO and her children Eddie and Julie.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Edward Lee; and a son, Howard Leon.

His final request was to be cremated.

A graveside service will be announced at a later date in Ridgepark Cemetery, Marshall,MO.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
