William "Will" Joseph Curry, 51, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024, at his home from heart failure. He was born on December 17, 1972, in Columbia, MO, the son of Garry W. Curry, who preceded him in death, and Wanda L. (Rogers) Rasa (Alva), who resides in Sedalia.
Will lived most of his adolescent and teenage years in Searcy, Arkansas. His favorite trips were to Sedalia on the Saturday Car Club Nights held at Eddies Drive Inn. After completing high school, he pursued his passion, furthering his education at Foothills Vo-Tech as an auto body technician. His artistic abilities helped him refine his skills with a passion to work and create. Working part-time for a paint company also helped him learn to mix paint colors.
In his younger years, he met the love of his life, married too young, divorced, and never married again.
In addition to his mother and stepdad, Will is survived by a his biological sister, Shellie Curry and an adopted sister, Amanda Rasa. Two nephews and a niece and their families.
In addition to his father, Will was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Floyd and Lucille (Robertson) Rogers, and his paternal grandparents, William J and Genevieve (Reed) Curry.
In his teenage years, Will had the opportunity to work in Florida at a papermill for two summers, learning another trade. On weekends, he would learn how to deep-sea dive (with the request from his mother not to let her know so she didn't imagine him being eaten by sharks)
Wills' artistic abilities were evident in his early adolescent years. His interests and talents weren't only in vehicles, and he loved to create something unique for someone's basement for entertainment or even commercial use...his passion was to design and use his artistic abilities. His carpentry skills also helped his creativity as he worked with fiberglass and epoxy on specific projects.
In 2020, Will contracted COVID-19 and was left with heart failure. Always willing to help, he advised and helped his family on several carpentry challenges and did as much physically as he could despite his illness. Later on, God sent him an angel in the form of a dog that worshipped his every move. This dog was his God send, giving him purpose and love, walking his dog as much as possible and extending his life in a more positive and fulfilling way, even enabling him to meet neighbors and make new and good friends. This would have never happened if it hadn't been for walking his dog.
A celebration of life graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Crown Hill Cemetery with Kenneth Cripe officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until service time at Crown Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sedalia Animal Shelter. Anyone very close to Will knew he and his dog, Niko, were inseparable. His biggest worry was leaving his dog behind.
