Wendy Klein

Wendy Dawn Klein, 34, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2013. She was born in Sedalia on July 1, 1979 to Nancy Ehlers, who survives of Syracuse. When Wendy was five days old she was welcomed as a gift from Heaven to the home of Dick and Carol Klein, who both survive of Sedalia.

Wendy was always a very happy and outgoing little girl. She never knew a stranger. She was friendly to everyone she met. She was also very adventurous. Mishaps from her adventures often led to trips to Bothwell Hospital. She was there so often that it could be said the west wing of the hospital exists thanks to her. When Wendy was ten months old she was doing a little dance on the wet bathroom floor and fell, splitting her chin open and requiring stitches. That was just the first instance of many. She once fell off of the merry-go-round at Housel Park during a church softball game. Then there was the time she fell off of a four inch balance beam at Convention Hall during her parents’ volleyball game and split her head open, also requiring stitches. There were numerous other situations throughout Wendy’s childhood that ended with a visit to the hospital.

Sports were a huge part of Wendy’s life. She was only five years old when she started playing t-ball and her love for being active and involved just grew from there. She played volleyball and softball for traveling teams, as well as throughout high school. She received a full scholarship to play volleyball at a college in Kansas, but a serious car accident unfortunately ended that. Wendy met and made a lot of friends through sports while waitressing at several locations. She enjoyed the excitement of riding on motorcycles and mudding in four wheel drive pick-up trucks. Wendy was a 1997 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. She received an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Marion Technical College in Marion, Ohio. Wendy accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior on July 9, 1989. She was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church.

Wendy was a blessed mother with two wonderful sons. Aaron Michael Klein was born in October 1999. Aaron’s compassion, deep caring, and profound respect are attributes he inherited from Wendy. Justin Lee Klein was born in February 2002. Justin has his mother’s ability to be friendly with everyone, as well as respectful and courteous.

Besides her parents and sons, Wendy is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Jill and Martin Williamson of O’Fallon, Illinois, their children, Hunter, Trevor, Zander, and Kayla; one half sister, Ashley Hayworth of Syracuse; and four step brothers, Russell, Steve, Randy, and Danny Hayworth.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Justin Ray Klein; and two sisters, Jennifer Diane Klein and Nicole Rene Klein.

Wendy touched many lives with her time here on earth and will be missed by many. She was a beloved daughter, mother, sister, and friend.

There will be a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, with Rev. Bill Boatman officiating. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 9:30-11:00. A brief committal service will be conducted at Flat Creek Baptist Cemetery, Sedalia, immediately following the memorial service.
