Wayne Thomas Borland, 86, of Butler, MO, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, MO. He was born on September 11, 1931, in Butler, MO, son of Olin W. Borland and Marie (Chitwood) Borland, who preceded him in death. He was married to Barbara Grant who preceded him in death in September 2005. Wayne retired as a cattle farmer and had worked at Wal-Mart in Butler as a greeter before his illness. In his early years he owned a plumbing shop in Butler. He enjoyed reading, woodworking, and genealogy. He was a man who never said a negative word about anyone. He was a simple man who didn't want expensive things, but he was a great man and will be missed by many. He is survived by a son, Matthew W. Borland (Tonya) of Sedalia; a sister, Janis Smith of Butler; six grandchildren, Elisia Krotzer (Eric) of Manheim, PA, John Borland of Columbia, MO, Rachelle Linn (Dru) of Buford, GA, Rob Walker of Kansas City, KS, Zachary Borland of San Antonio, TX, and Julie Seiz of Phoenix, AZ. He is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren, Max, Bennett, Isabelle and Maggie Krotzer, Kolby and Brynn Borland, Jaiden Linn, and Preston and Cameron Walker. Also survived by two nephews, Randall Smith of Butler and Scott Smith (Nancy) of Emporia, KS; a niece, Sheryl Smith Hannah (Kirk) of Butler; and great nieces, Kassidy and McKenna Hannah, Brandi Smith, Juanita Rodriguez and Amy Delgado. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Cecil Smith. He loved his family along with his extended family of step daughters, Robin Gabriel Guthrie, Judy Gabriel, Terry Gabriel, Judy Dawson, Dorene Trent, Sharon Foss and a stepson, Kippy Foss. Graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler, MO, with a celebration of life following at the Senior Center in Butler.
