Virginia Jo Ellen Snapp, 84, of Smithton, Mo passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Bothwell Regional Health Center, Sedalia. She was born on December 23, 1929, in Smithton a daughter of Logan and Clara (Eichholz) Siegel, who preceded her in death.
On January 7, 1949 in Topeka, KS, she was united in marriage to Roy Snapp, who preceded her in death on March 30, 2005.
Jo Ellen worked many years as a cook at the Hughesville Café and Northwest High School. She enjoyed working on word puzzles, gardening, cooking and canning. Spending time with family at family gatherings and holidays.
She is survived by twelve children, Tammie Stout, LaDonna Klein, Rhonda Brown (Mike), Kay Dollinger, Tracy Snapp, Bridgett Marcum, Monica Hudson, Justin Snapp (Kim), Corey Snapp, Shannon Snapp (Ginger) all of Sedalia, Vintra Watts of Oak Grove and Jaret Snapp (June) of Mora; one sister, Frances Cooper (Rupert) of Ponca City, OK; one brother, Harold “Pete” Siegel (Bonnie) of Pilot Grove; twenty nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Randy Snapp; one sister, Shirley Staley; one brother, Vince Siegel; two granddaughters, Sarah Ashlee Brown and Ashton Hudson.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, May 23, 2014 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia with Rev. Ed Broyles officiating.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the chapel.
Burial will be at Highland Sacred Gardens, Sedalia.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jason Stout, Jeremy Snapp, Zachary Watts, Josh Watts, Travis Brown, Adam Marcum, Austin Marcum, Trent Snapp, Colby Snapp, Trey Snapp and Kendall Snapp.
Honorary bearers will be granddaughters, Kimberly Stout, Stacey Bahner, Dena Perkins, Shandee Burtis, Michelle Brown, Melissa Slaughter, Trish Ferolito, Carrie Watts, Kyla Morgan, Jamie Bodenstab, April Snapp, Savanah Hudson, Kaley Snapp, Jenna Snapp, Chelsie Snapp, Tiarra Snapp, Jolee Snapp and Kayla Snapp.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Child Safe of Central Missouri or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital of Kansas City.
