Dr. Virginia Louise Herring, 81, of Sedalia, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2014. She was born on April 26, 1933 in Warrensburg, MO, a daughter of William Max and Helen Genieva (Furbush) Goodwin.
Dr. Herring owned and operated two locations of Ms. Hat Boutique where she sold church hats. She had one location in Colorado Springs, CO, and she co-owned one in Sacramento, CA, with Eld. Aubrey Parker, pastor. She co-pastored The Prayer Room C.O.G.I.C in Sacramento, CA. She loved to minister to people, and she served her Lord and Savior faithfully. Dr. Herring was a member of True Vine Church of God & Christ, Sedalia.
She is survived by five children, Imam Yahya President-Furqan and his wife Zakia of Kansas City, MO, Lillian President-Frye and her husband Harrison of Sedalia, Anita President-Wright and her husband Rudolph of Memphis, TN, Curtis President-McQueen of Sedalia, and Evangelist Carolyn Herring-Moore and her husband Pastor Marcus of Tampa, FL; two sisters, Evangelist Ida Mae Goodwin-Harris and her husband Evangelist Roy of Warrensburg, MO, and Elenore Goodwin-Pullins of Suitland, MD; 55 grandchildren; 66 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Gregory Herring; seven sisters, Maxine, Helen, Susie, Birdie, Diane, Kathy, and Bertha; and one brother, William Max Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 10, 2014 at True Vine Church of God & Christ, Sedalia, with Rev. W.T. Morris officiating.
The family will receive friends for a visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, on Thursday, October 9, 2014.
Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Honorary bearers will be granddaughters.
All monetary contributions, flowers, and cards are suggested to the family in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
