Obituary For Violet E. Murray

Violet E. Murray, 96, of La Monte, MO, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at Rest Haven Convalescent Home in Sedalia. She was born on February 5, 1927, in Marshall, MO, the daughter of Arthur L. Griffitts and Alma Molloy, who preceded her in death.

On September 10, 1945, in La Monte, MO, she was united in marriage to John Lincoln Murray, who preceded her in death on September 20, 2017.

Violet graduated from La Monte High School. She had been a member of the La Monte Christian Church since 1954. Violet was a housewife, also having worked for Town and Country Shoes and Sammy's Laundromat.

Violet is survived by one son, John David (Vickie) Murray of La Monte, MO; one daughter, Gayle (Ted) Jarrett of Denver, CO; five grandchildren, Lori Moore, David Murray, Darrell Jarrett, Daniel Jarrett, and Sherry Estep; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandson.

Besides her parents and husband, Violet was preceded in death by three half-brothers and one half-sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2023, at the La Monte Christian Church in La Monte, MO, with pastors Michael Wood and Alan Morse officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

The burial will be at the La Monte Cemetery, La Monte, MO.

Pallbearers will be Frank Higgins, Terry VanNatta, Jim Tyler, Larry Clear, Bill Kuhns, Tom Hughes, Bill Ewell, and Bill Hackworth.

Honorary bearers will be Sam Mehan and Elroy Schroeder.

Memorial contributions may be made to the La Monte Cemetery in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
