Velma Joann Collier, 77, of Sedalia, MO, passed away Monday, August 28, 2017 at her home. She was born on November 2, 1939 in Smithton, the daughter of Thomas Homer and Meryl Josephine (Poynter) Kindle, who preceded her in death.
On November 29, 1958 in LaMonte, she was united in marriage to Bert Glenn Collier, who preceded her in death on April 8, 2000.
Joann worked as a waitress at Maxine's Home Place for many years and did home health care for many of the elderly in Sedalia. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to the casinos with anyone who was willing to go. She loved flower gardening and especially loved spending time with all of her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Kelly Marie Miller (Chris) and Pamela Jo Snyder (Gary) all of Sedalia; three sisters, Maxine Griggs, Nadine KIein, and Kathy Martin (Corbett); one brother, Alfred Kindle all of Sedalia; eight grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one great great grandson and one on the way.
In addition to her husband Bert and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeannie Ann Collier; two brothers, Tom and Lloyd Kindle; and seven sisters, Edith Rickey, Lucille Bowers, Mary Jett, Sue Brockman, Patsy Pyle, Tini Smith and Janie Jobe.
Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Rev. Corbett Martin and Rev. Jason Kindle officiating.
Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the chapel.
Burial will be at LaMonte Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Eric Collier, Anthony and Nathan Snyder, Martin and Joshua Miller, Clinton and Joseph Shoemaker, and Scott Fox .
Honorary bearers will be Misty Fox, Yolanda Collier, Shelly Snyder, Jennifer and Beth Shoemaker, Milissa and Amber Miller, Christy Pyle, Jana Sprinkle, Peggy VanDyke, Al Kindle, Frankie Kindle, Kathy Martin, Jake Drum, Renee Pyle, Rocky Snyder and Dale Wood; all of her great grandchildren and great great grandson.
A special blessing to Christy Pyle and Jana Sprinkle for all the loving care that they gave to our mom, you are our blessing.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
