Tracie DeAnne Gibson, 36 of Smithton passed away Friday, October 25, 2013. She was born on February 7, 1977 in Sedalia, MO, the daughter of Terry and Peggy (Estes) Wittman, who survive of Smithton, MO.
Tracie was a 1995 graduate of Smithton High School. She was a talented vocalist and became the first freshman in Smithton High School history to receive a 1 rating at State Vocal Competition and to become a member of All-State Choir. She was an avid sports fan and loved her Mizzou Tigers, Atlanta Braves, and Philadelphia Eagles. But her greatest passion was her children. They brought her the greatest joy of her life and she loved watching them play sports and cheering the loudest at their events and encouraging them in all endeavors. She was also the hardest worker you could find and spent the last few months of her life helping her dad, Terry, mow yards and build fences. Before she moved back to Smithton in March of 2013 she worked as a checker in quality control at the Dollar General Warehouse in Fulton, MO. Tracie also worked in independent home health care and showed such a love taking care of the elderly. She became a member of WATER Ministries Church in Smithton and was baptized at Smithton Community Church.
She is survived by her two children, Devin Gibson of Fulton and Alexia Gibson of the home; four brothers, Scott Wittman and Nathan Wittman of Sedalia; Andrew (Jesalynn) Wittman and Tim (Stacey) Wittman of Smithton; one stepbrother, Greg (Amy) Wittman of Florence; one stepsister, Yvonne (Brandon) Gibson of Columbia; her maternal-grandmother, Carolyn Estes of Bristol, IN; her paternal-grandparents, Jack and Patsy Wittman of Otterville; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; Billie Joe Estes and Art and Myrtle Henderson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, October 31, 2013, at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia with the Rev. Reed Lange officiating.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until service time.
Burial will be in Smithton Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her brothers, Scott, Nathan, Andrew, Tim and Greg Wittman and her cousin, Justin Wittman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Gibson Children’s College Fund established at Simmons First National Bank, Sedalia, in care of the funeral chapel.
