Obituary For Tad Salecki

Tadeusz "Tad" Salecki, 92, formerly of Sedalia, passed away on Monday, December 15th, 2014 at Western MO Medical Center, Warrensburg. He was born on February 24, 1922 in Fall River, MA to polish immigrants, Jan and Felicia Salecki. Tad was the youngest of eight children. After serving in the Merchant Marine as a Chief Pharmacist's Mate from 1941 to 1946, Tad joined the Marine Corps. He retired in San Diego, CA in 1969 as GySgt. He liked to share his stories about his overseas stations with USMC in Guam, Subic Bay Philippines, and Okinawa. In the U.S. his duty stations took him from coast to coast. But in 1976, Tad found his true home when he moved to central Missouri. Tad married Elsie Ann Swiderski on December 31, 1949. Together they had five sons and a daughter. Elsie preceded him in death in 1976. Tad was lucky in love again, marrying Mildred Gregory Yunt on June 8, 1979. Mildred also preceded him in death in 2008. Tad will be remembered for his generous spirit. He enjoyed teaching and playing card games with family and friends. He was a football and basketball fan, adopting MO Tigers as a favorite team. He is survived by four sons, two stepsons and a daughter; Eric Salecki of Chesapeake, VA, Ted Salecki of Eureka Springs, AR, Jason Salecki of Tempe, AZ, Joe Salecki of Versailles, MO, Terry Yunt and wife Mary of Warrensburg, MO, Larry Yunt of Sedalia, MO, Jackie Haeg and husband Brent of Tempe, AZ; his niece, Norma Ferraer of Sedalia, MO; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Salecki. At Tad's request, there will be no services. Serving the family, Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
