Stanley Dean Ragar, 77, of Sedalia, MO, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018 at EW Thompson Health and Rehabilitation Center in Sedalia. He was born on August 12, 1940 in Sedalia, the son of Virgil and Marjorie (Miller) Ragar, who preceded him in death.
On July 2, 1966 in Sedalia, he was united in marriage to Myrna Lee (Miller) Reynolds, who resides of the home.
Stanley was a family man, a devoted husband and the best father two kids could ever want. He had a deep faith in Christ and was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church where he served as a eucharistic minister’s assistant and a past member of the Vestry board.
For over 50 years, Stanley was a barber, mostly in Sedalia where he owned Stan’s Barber Shop. We know that he would like to express his deepest thanks to his faithful customers who stood with him during his extended illness, some of whom sported a “longer than usual” hairstyle just waiting for him to recover. He considered his clients dear friends.
When Stanley wasn't at the barber shop, he could often be found riding his bike on the Katy Trail or walking his dogs.
Stanley was a Mason, a past officer and instructor in Proficiency of Sedalia Grand Lodge 236.
In 1988 he received an Outstanding Community Service Award from Mayor Larry Foster, City of Sedalia.
In addition to his wife, Myrna, he is survived by a son, Brett Dean Ragar and wife Jody of Tucson, AZ; a daughter, Stacey Lee Kitchens of Southaven, MS; three grandchildren, Kennie Dean Kitchens and wife Lizzy, Katherine Tidwell, and Kristoffer (Kit) Kitchens and wife April; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Ragar; two sisters, Shirley Bruns-Bergman and Janet Steen.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Calvary Episcopal Church located on the corner on Broadway and Ohio in Sedalia with The Rev. Anne Meredith Kyle officiating.
Honorary bearers will be Roger Gates, John Kelly, Bill McDowell, John Rice, Jim Ellis, and Don Steen.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Episcopal Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
