Stanley Clawson Potts Jr

Stanley Clawson Potts Jr, 85, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at his home. He was born on June 5, 1939, in Tipton, MO, the son of Stanley C. Potts Sr. and Mary (Thorpe) Potts, who preceded him in death.

Stanley was a proud graduate of Tipton High School, Class of 1957. He dedicated many years to his work as a Union Carpenter for the Carpenters Union of Central Illinois. A committed member of his community, he was actively involved in the Green Ridge, MO, American Legion, the Sons of the American Legion, and was a devoted member of Discover Church.

Stanley found great joy in volunteering at the Heckart Community Center, where he spent years calling Bingo for seniors. He was also a member of the Ham Operators Club of Sedalia and an avid CB radio enthusiast, known by his handle, "Stanley Steamer."

A passionate collector, Stanley amassed over 100 Nativity scenes and had a deep love for model trains. His dedication to Discover Church was evident in the countless hours he spent maintaining its facilities, decorating for the holidays, and cherishing the fellowship of its members. He also had a keen eye for bargains, rarely missing a chance to hunt for treasures at local garage sales.

Stanley is survived by three sons, Bill Wyatte (Robin) of Sedalia, Tim Potts (Amy) of Sedalia, and Michael Potts (Christine) of Dayton, TX; a brother, Jimmy Potts of Louisiana; and two sisters, Pat Kiesling of California, MO, and Tina Potts of Tipton, MO; thirteen grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Stanley was preceded in death by a daughter, Patty Gardner.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Discover Church, Sedalia, with Pastor Ed Spencer officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

The burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Sedalia, MO.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sedalia Senior Center in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
