Sonja Smith

Sonja Kay Smith, 72, of Sedalia, passed away on Friday May 08, 2015. She went to look upon the face of Jesus whom she loved and served while surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 28, 1942 in Kinston, NC the daughter of Charles Register and Lillian Wilson, who preceded in death.

In June of 1965, in Celina, TN she married the love of her life, Jack Lee Smith, who survives of the home.

Anyone that knew Sonja could see the joy of the Lord in her life. Heaven is now a richer place because she is there. She had to many talents to mention. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her fond memories will be with them and forever bless them.

She was a long time member of New Hope Baptist Church where she served the Lord for many years.

Besides her husband she is survived by a daughter, Shannon Downs and her husband Danny of Kansas City, MO. She had three grandchildren, Dustin Downs, Jaclyn Downs, and Haley Tryon; one great grandchild to be expected in August of this year, Colton Jack Tryon; a brother, Buddy Register and his wife Shelly of Connley Springs, NC; and many other relatives that she loved.

A memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Duane Duchesne officiating..
