Obituary For Sandra S. Bird

Sandra S. Bird, 66, of Sedalia, MO passed Friday, September 9, 2022. She was born June 6, 1956, in Topeka, Kansas to George W and Lorraine A (Murray) Bird. Preceding Sandra in death were both parents and sister Roberta L. Bird.

Sandra graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in Sedalia, MO Class of 1974. Her entire professional career was spent in the health care field starting with part time employment while attending high school and continued as a Registered Nurse with CoxHealth in Springfield, MO following graduation from Burge School of Nursing in Springfield, MO Class of 1978. Sandra’s professional career focused primarily in the specialties of oncology and dialysis.

Values held by Sandra included, service and care for others, mutual respect, forgiveness, acceptance and trust. She always placed the feelings and welfare of others ahead of her own wanting the best for all. Sandra’s greatest joys in life were sharing time with family and friends, and serving the many patients and families she helped care for. She also enjoyed antiques, and searching for the “find” at garage sales and flea markets.

Sandra is survived by her brothers Bruce Bird (Beverly), Bart Bird, Mark Bird, Guy Arnwine, John Arnwine (Jennifer), Jeff Arnwine (Samantha), Chad Arnwine all of Sedalia, Scott Arnwine of Springfield, MO and sister Arvella Arnwine Jones, also of Sedalia, as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would also like to acknowledge Sandra’s close friend Carolyn Grayson of Pleasant Hope, MO and family who included Sandra as one of their own and all of Sandra’s friends from nursing school and her tenure at CoxHealth. No visitation or formal service is planned. A private graveside gathering for family and close friends will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions in Sandra’s name may be made to Cox College of Nursing in care of CoxHealth Foundation, C.A.T.S. (Cat Assistance Team of Sedalia) or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Arrangements are in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
