Sandra Marie Lake, 88, of Smithton, MO, passed away Friday, October 21, 2022, at her home in Smithton, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 28, 1934, in Swanton, OH, the daughter of Charles Leffel and Gertrude Knight, who preceded her in death.
On December 19, 1953, in Ohio, she was united in marriage to Vernon Lake, who resides in the home.
Sandra graduated high school as valedictorian in Swanton, OH. After her marriage to Vernon, she moved to Phoenix, AZ, and became a legal secretary for the VA. They then moved to Wisconsin and became dairy farmers. After 15 years, they moved to Sedalia, MO, and she worked at State Fair Community College, advancing to the president's secretary. She eventually retired from there and became a farmer's wife. Her hobbies include reading, sewing, cooking, gardening, traveling, and visiting the casino.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Karla Lake and Karen Stoltz (Gene); two sisters, Jo Mizer and Marjorie Pierce.
Besides her parents, Sandra is preceded in death by three brothers, Jack Leffel, Richard Leffel, and Lawrence Leffel, and one sister Georgia Culler.
