Sandra V. Blake

Sandra V. Blake, 81, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. She was born on December 16, 1942, in Sedalia, the daughter of Bryan Herron and Irene (Peters) Herron, who preceded her in death.

On October 1, 1991, in Sedalia, MO, she was united in marriage to Gary A. Blake, who resides in the home.

Sandy was a 1960 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. She worked at the Sedalia K-Mart as a Sales Associate in the Jewelry Department for thirteen years, retiring in 2001. Sandy was a member and served as President of the ABWA and enjoyed quilting with her sewing group, "The Quilt Guilds". Sandy also enjoyed crappie fishing where she received a Master Angler Award from the Missouri Department of Conservation. Sandy loved big family gatherings, having hay rides, bonfires, weenie roasts, and barbecues. Sandy especially loved going on motorcycle rides with her husband, Gary. They enjoyed having large neighborhood fish fries and cookouts at the Sedalia VFW Post #2591 and The American Legion Post #642.

In addition to her husband, Sandy is survived by three children: Mike Grinstead of El Cajon, CA, Stacy Moore (Richard) of Sedalia, and Sherri Combs (Kevin) of Augusta, KS; eight grandchildren: Brandon, Andrea (Aaron), Haley (Jonas), Faythe (Logan), Tess, Ariel, Autumn, and Lexi; three great-grandchildren: Emma, Brooklyn, and Jameson; a brother, Bryan Herron (Darlene) of Springfield, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by a daughter, Susie Kumpf, a granddaughter, Kayla, and a great-grandson, Isaac.

A celebration of life gathering with family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Rea's Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.

Honorary bearers will be Kathy Reed and Jackie Baker.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sedalia Animal Shelter in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
