Samuel Stephen Potter III (Steve), 60, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at The University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. He was born on June 2, 1964, in Sedalia, MO, the son of Samuel Stephen Potter II and Karen Sue McMullin, who preceded him in death.
On December 4, 2021, in Sedalia, MO, he was united in marriage to Sarah Joann Roland, who resides in the home.
Steve graduated from Otterville High School in 1982. His passion was motorsports, anything with speed. This passion kept him employed in the automotive field over the years. A few places he worked were Malmo Motors, Dave Cross Motors, and Coggin Automotive Group. He eventually started and operated his own trucking companies, Potter Express and Ozark Outlaw Express. He loved building and racing cars. His favorite car was his '69 Chevrolet Camaro. He enjoyed entertaining people as a D J, riding motorcycles, shooting pool, and spending time with his friends. His love for cars led him to new adventures like drag racing and circle track racing in street stock, super stock, and modified.
Besides his wife, Steve is survived by a sister, Stacy Toataua-Farraday (Wallis), several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and his fur babies, Smokie, Daisy, Ralphie, and Snickers.
A celebration of life service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, with Pastor Candace Fowler officiating.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
Honorary bearers will be Troy and Tina Brown, Mark and Dana Watring, and Triston and Jessalynn Cook.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sedalia Animal Shelter or the IOOF Otterville Cemetery Association in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
