Obituary For Samuel Howard Jackson

Samuel Howard Jackson, 73, of Sedalia, MO, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City, MO. He was born on October 24, 1944 in Sedalia, the son of Samuel Cleveland Jackson and Evelyn Juanita (Phillips) Jackson.

Sam worked in concrete construction with his brother Steve at Jackson Construction Company and later helped his son Steven establish Jackson Concrete Design LLC.

He enjoyed training and racing dogs, hunting, and reading about history. One of his favorite things to do was to walk his property and enjoy nature. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his father, Samuel C. Jackson of Sedalia; son, Steven T. Jackson (Cathy) of Sedalia; stepson, Justin Surface (Kathi); daughters, Samantha Watson of Sedalia and Mari Lynn Yancey of Calhoun, MO; brother, Steve Jackson (Judy) of Sedalia; sister, Pam Harden (Johnny Mac Harden); granddaughter, Emma Rose Watson; his life companion, Muriel Jackson; nephew, Jason Elwood; and nieces, Brittney Marriott, Leslie Jackson, and Hillary Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Juanita Jackson; and brother, Joe Jackson.

Full military honors will take place at 6:00 pm, Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, MO followed by a celebration of life gathering until 8:00 pm. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps and VFW Post 2591.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri Honor Flight in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
