Ruth Ann Yankee, 78, of Hughesville passed away Monday, October 29, 2018 at her home in Hughesville, MO. She was born on December 20, 1939 in LaMonte, MO, the daughter of Claude and Ruby Mae Blair Rayl, who preceded her in death.
In November of 1958 she was united in marriage to Richard Harley Phillips, who preceded her in death on February 6, 1972 and on May 26, 1973 in Camdenton, MO, she was united in marriage to Lloyd E. Yankee, who preceded her in death on January 29, 2008.
Ruth was a former member of Sedalia Moose Lodge B.P.O.E. #1494. She enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing and camping. She loved doing ceramics and set up at many craft shows and had a booth at the Missouri State Fair for several years. Ruth and Lloyd opened a store in downtown Sedalia called L & R Variety. One of her biggest hobbies was crocheting on kitchen towels for her shows and gifting holiday towels to family members. Ruth enjoyed watching a variety of birds, including humming birds, at her many bird feeders.
Survivors include two daughters, Becky Cressley (Darrell) of Sedalia and Teresa Phillips (Randall) of Sweet Springs; eight grandchildren; Kimberly, Curtis, Renee, Joseph, Stephanie, Rebecca, Kyle, and Mason; eight great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; a sister, Kay Shull (Dennis) of La Monte; two step sons, Phillip Yankee (Janet) and Wayne Yankee (Gayle); four step daughters, Judy Rollert (Allen), Linda Warren (Ellis), Janice Phillips (Ron), and Terry Hopkins (Bobby); 15 step grandchildren; 35 step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Phillips and a brother, Charles Rayl (Barbara).
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Dennis Shull officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at the chapel.
Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Hair, Joseph Rylott, Kyle Gordon, Mason Brown, Sam Huckfeldt, and Oliver Douglas.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fitzgibbon Hospice in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
