Ruby G. Ellis, 95, of Sedalia, MO, passed away at her home on Saturday, March 16, 2024. She was born on April 8, 1928, in Sedalia, the daughter of Ernest and Ruth (Cramer) Schumaker, who preceded her in death.
On July 23, 1965, in Sedalia, she was united in marriage to Howard Ellis, who preceded her in death on May 31, 1989.
Ruby worked for Inter-State Studio from the mid-1970’s – mid-1990’s when she quit work to take care of her mother. Ruby would always do anything for anyone, so she was busy throughout her life caring for others and doing favors for anyone who asked. She had a tremendous work ethic and loved it when the weather was nice enough to be outside. She was still working in her yard, taking care of her flowers, working in her vegetable garden, mowing part of her yard this past fall, as well as still driving. She enjoyed her cats and had several bird feeders and enjoyed watching the birds as they came to her feeders. Ruby liked canning, and she still cooked three meals a day for herself. She loved cooking for her family and still had every Thanksgiving and Christmas meal at her home. She was a wonderful cook, best known for her delicious mashed potatoes with puddles of butter, fried chicken, green beans, and the best apple pie ever, just to name a few of her specialties. She didn’t have recipes; she just tasted things as she cooked until they were just right. One of her grandsons once said, “Her food is so good because she cooks with love.”
Ruby was always full of energy, always had a positive attitude and a smile. Everyone who knew her liked her. She was so proud of her grandchildren and enjoyed attending their sporting events and activities when they were younger. She would beam with pride when she talked about her grandchildren. She was so proud of the adults they had become, and she was not ready to leave them.
