Roenna V. (Roeboat) Thomas

Roenna V. (Roeboat) Thomas, 80, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023, at Loving Arms Memory Care and Assisted Living in Sedalia. She was born on December 9, 1942, in Ash Flat, AR, the daughter of James VanAuken and Lorenna M. (Butts) Deupree, who preceded her in death.

Roenna was a member of Sedalia Moose Lodge # 1494 and Sedalia Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. # 125. She worked as a bookkeeper at Adco for 42 years until her retirement. Roenna was known to be very athletic and was an excellent basketball player. In addition, she enjoyed bowling, dancing, football, watching motorsports, gambling, and her CC & Pepsi. Roenna especially loved sitting outside with her family and friends.

Survivors include her step-dad Dick Deupree of Dora, MO; two daughters, Sherri Parrett of Ormond Beach, FL. and Tonya Thomas Summers (Matthew) of Sedalia; a grandson, Jake Thomas; two sisters, Judy VanAuken of Yakima, WA, and Joella Deupree of Kansas City, MO.

In addition to her parents, Roenna was preceded in death by her son John Wayne Thomas; two brothers, Danny Nickels and Ricky Nickels; maternal grandmother, Ethel Butts (MaMa); her companion, Wilbur Bain; and the love of her life,, Jack Thomas.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Donnie Hayworth officiating. A Sedalia Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #125 Ritual Ceremony will follow services.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2023, at the chapel.

Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, with Sedalia Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #125 conducting a ritual ceremony at the grave site.

Honorary bearers will be Jerry and Linda Smith, Jamie (Jammers) Schumaker, Denise Fries, Betty (SuzieQ) Hart, Lynn Welton, Juanita Salmons, Mark Thompson, Randy Higgins, and Jim Hayworth.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sedalia Elks Lodge B.P.O.E #125 Christmas Basket Fund in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
