Obituary For Robert "Paul" Wisener

Robert "Paul" Wisener, 97, of Sedalia passed away Wednesday September 28, 2016 in Sedalia, Missouri. He was born on April 14, 1919 in Wapakoneta, Ohio the son of Rueben and Olive (Cook) Wisener, who preceded him in death.

On November 13, 1943, in San Antonio, Texas, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth "Betty" Haas, who preceded him in death. Surviving are a son, Robert "Bob" Paul Wisener, Jr., his wife, Sharon, of Savannah, Georgia, their children, Richard, Angela, Darlene, and Scott; a daughter, Paula Sue Jauert, her husband, John, of Wapakoneta, and her children, Michael, Jennifer, and Sarah; a son, Thomas Rueben Wisener, of Ft Loramie, Ohio; twelve great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and one great-great-great grandchild.

On October 12, 1973, in Wapakoneta, he was united in marriage to Mina (Bowsher) Lauer, who survives in Sedalia. Surviving are a son, Joseph David Lauer, his wife Karen, of Sedalia, and their children, Joshua, Samuel, Hannah, and Elizabeth; and a son, Timothy Mark Lauer, and his husband, David Cain, of Maui, Hawaii.

He is also survived by a sister, Lois Fisher, of Tucson, Arizona.

Paul was raised in the Lutheran faith. He was a member and commander of the American Legion Post #330 of Wapakoneta. He was also a member of the Eagles, Elks Lodge, and Moose Lodge. He served on the Wapakoneta City Council. He served his country honorably in the United States Army-Air Corps, where he received flight and engineering training.

Paul owned and operated Paul Wisener Jeweler in Wapakoneta for over 30 years before retiring and moving to Florida, and then later to Sedalia.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Wisener and a sister, Martha Goeth.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, October 12th, at First Christian Church in Sedalia, with Rev. Dr. Chad McMullin officiating.

The family will welcome friends and family one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, Missouri.
