Obituary For Robert Dennis

Robert Mack Dennis, 100, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the MO Veterans Home, Warrensburg. He was born on December 17, 1914 in Blue Lick, MO, a son of James and Florence (Lasley) Dennis, who both preceded him in death.

On July 24, 1948 in Kansas City, MO, he was united in marriage to Anna Christine Eilers, who preceded him in death on August 20, 2011.

Robert worked for The MO Pacific Railroad and was a member of The Carmen Union. He served his country honorably in the US Army, during WWII. Robert enjoyed being outdoors, working in his garden, fishing or coon hunting. He also enjoyed going to the dirt track car races and playing pitch. He was a member of Blue Lick Union Church.

He is survived by three children, Robert (Diana) Dennis of Owasso, OK, Hugo (Linda) Dennis and Cathie (Kevin) McMullin all of Sedalia; nine grandchildren, David, Cale and Pete Dennis, Mark Woolery, Alan and Mike Dennis, Bryan, Jason and Michael McClain; and eighteen great grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jonathan Mack Dennis; one daughter, Florence Emmaly Dennis; two sisters, Emma Coulter and Florence Heiman; two brothers, Raymond and James Dennis; one grandson, Mark Dennis; and one great granddaughter, Banessa Dennis.

A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia. Family will receive friends at the chapel, from 5:30 pm until service time.

Burial will be at Arrow Rock Cemetery, Arrow Rock, MO at 10:00 am, Friday, January 16, 2015. Full military honors will be conducted at graveside.

Pallbearers will be Sam and Paul Coulter, James “Buzz” Heiman, David, Cale and Pete Dennis.

Honorary bearers will be Kevin McMullin, Al, Mike and Linda Dennis, Bryan, Jason and Michael McClain, Jerry Parker, Ross and Bobbie Hall, Elmer Eilers, Phil Coulter and Gary Richardson.

Robert’s family would like to sincerely thank the staff at The MO Veterans Home, Warrensburg, for their loving care of their father.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to The MO Veterans Home, in care of the funeral chapel.
