Obituary For Richard Schroeder

Richard Dee “Dickie” Schroeder, 76, of Hughesville, MO, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Boone Hospital, Columbia, Mo. He was born on December 21, 1936 in rural Hughesville, a son of William Henry and Mattie Jewell (Powell) Schroeder, who preceded him in death.

On April 27, 1955 at Mt. Herman Baptist Church, he was united in marriage to Barbara Sue Wise, who preceded him in death on August 25, 1999. Then on July 15, 2007 at Bethel United Methodist Church, he was united in marriage to Jami Walk-Gorrell, who survives of the home.

Richard was a 1954 graduate of Hughesville High School. He worked from the 1960s through the early 70s as a service representative for Massey-Ferguson. Then from the 70s through the mid-80s he co-owned and operated Schroeder Implement Co. with his brother, Donnie. Richard was known as the best diesel mechanic around. He loved agriculture and worked hard as a cattle and row crop farmer. He also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, going to tractor pulls, deer hunting, and trout fishing. Richard was a former member of Bethel United Methodist Church, and a current member of First United Methodist Church, Sedalia.

He is survived by six children, Eric (Lisa) Schroeder of Hughesville, Aaron (Amy) Schroeder of Hughesville, Stephanie (Jim) Sneed of Sedalia, Julie (Alvin) Zeisset of Houstonia, Delaine (Mike) Zeisset of Hughesville, Robin Schroeder (Jim Hazell) of Sedalia; two sisters, Loretta Allred of Burnet, TX, Ann (Bob) Reavis of La Monte, two brothers, Eddie Schroeder of Green Ridge, Donnie (Shirley) Schroeder of Sedalia; seventeen grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren, Jackson, Carson, Reagan, Cash, Rhett, Arthur, Patrick, Oliver, Gabriel, Hunter, Carter, Landon, Parker, Chase, Logan, and baby Waddle on the way. He is also survived by Jami’s children, Chris Gorrell, Perry Gorrell, Candis Eguesquiza, Troy Gorrell, and their families.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, with Pastor Jim Downing officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday, November 15, 2013.

Burial will be at Mt. Herman Cemetery, rural Sedalia.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Brian Sneed, Jason Sneed, Brent Gemes, Dustin Gemes, Joseph Zeisset, Kevin Zeisset, Luke Zeisset, and Rick Schroeder.

Honorary bearers will be grandchildren, Christen Sneed-Smith, Deanna Gemes, Brooke Gemes-Daleske, Lori Zeisset-Lukashevich, Rachael Zeisset, Rebecca Zeisset, Micah Zeisset-Waddle, Jack Schroeder, Isaac Schroeder.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Bethel United Methodist Church.
