Richard Paul Eckhoff, 67, of La Monte, MO, passed away on October 17, 2024, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. Born on April 4, 1957, in Pontiac, IL, he was the beloved son of Arthur Clarence Eckhoff and Marilyn Jean (Brown) Eckhoff, both of whom preceded him in death.
On July 24, 2003, Richard married the love of his life, Linda S. Albrecht, in Las Vegas, NV, and she remains a cherished presence in their home.
A proud graduate of Stover High School's Class of 1975, Rick honorably served in the United States Army from 1976 to 1979, with stations in Panama and Ft. Hood, TX. Following his active duty, he joined the Army National Guard while working at Rival Manufacturing and attending State Fair Community College, where he earned an associate's degree in Electrical Engineering. He applied his expertise as an Electrical Engineer on Apache, Cobra, and Black Hawk Helicopters, showcasing his dedication to service and innovation.
Rick had a passion for life that included fishing, playing guitar, and, most importantly, spending time with his grandbabies, family, and friends. A master electrician, he had an extraordinary ability to wire or repair anything involving electricity. His creativity extended to leather work, where he enjoyed crafting key chains and gun holsters. Known for his culinary skills, he was a master fish fryer, often sharing his delicious crappie catches with loved ones. Riding his Harley-Davidson was another joy in his life, a symbol of his adventurous spirit.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; four sons: Matthew Eckhoff of Kansas City, MO, Christopher Eckhoff of Knob Noster, MO, Brandon Albrecht (Chelsee) of Crockett, TX, and Jacob Looney (Audrey) of Warrensburg, MO; two brothers, Butch Eckhoff of Sedalia and Roger Eckhoff (Terrie) of Eldon, MO; a sister, Ranae Campbell of Olean, MO; eleven grandchildren: Caly, Seth, Samarah, Lorretta, (Anthony), Brittany, Sabrina, David, Addy, Wayne, Amalia, Amara, and Rayne; two great-grandsons, Albiel and Amadeus; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Clarine Eckhoff.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Russ Slocum officiating. The family will greet friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at the same location. Burial will take place at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, with full military honors conducted by the United States Army and Sedalia VFW Post #2591.
Pallbearers will include Jacob Looney, Brandon Albrecht, David Eckhoff, Caleb Whitworth, Jack Hall, and Randy Burford. Christopher Eckhoff, Seth Comfort, Terry Albrecht, and Troy Frakes will serve as an honorary bearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
