Obituary For Richard Baslee

Richard Lee "Rick" Baslee, 69, of Sedalia passed away Wednesday, October 25th, 2017 at his home in Sedalia, MO. He was born on May 16, 1948 in Sedalia, MO son of Harold Lee and Geneva (Hoard) Baslee, who preceded him in death.

On August 31, 1971, in Miami, OK he was united in marriage to Rita Allene Ragar, who resides of the home.

Rick was a 1966 graduate of Green Ridge High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served honorably during the Vietnam Era until 1970. He worked for Herman Lumber Co. for 25 years and also worked at Parkhurst Manufacturing and Lowe's. Rick retired from State Fair Community College as a custodian in 2015. He was a member of Broadway Presbyterian Church, Sedalia, and the Sedalia Elks Lodge #125. Rick enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, playing cards and socializing with his friends. He was best known to his friends as R.T.P.

In addition to his wife Rita, he is survived by a son Tracy Baslee (Heather) of Omaha, TX; a daughter Jody Baslee of Sedalia; two grandsons, Mason Baslee, Dylan Bouldin; two granddaughters, Langstyn Baslee, Melanie Bouldin; a great grandson, Dax Erickson; two sisters, Surita Estes (Bill) of Sedalia and F. Jolene Shupert (David) of Williston, ND; two brothers-in-law, Monty Ragar (Pam) of Warsaw and Mike Ragar (Merle) of Sedalia; a sister-in-law, Carol Ann Wamsley (Ronny) of Mendon, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Pastor John Striet officiating. Sedalia Elks Lodge #125 will conduct a memorial funeral service immediately following the celebration of life.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

Burial will be at Green Ridge Cemetery with full military honors conducted by Sedalia VFW Post #2591 and Kansas City Navy Reserve.

Urn bearers will be nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Smith-Cotton JROTC or to the Sedalia Boys and Girls Club in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
