Preston Arnold Stayton

Preston Arnold Stayton, 66, of Sedalia, MO. passed away Friday, November 25th, 2022, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia while surrounded by family. He was born on September 10th, 1956 in Monroe County, AR. The son of Preston Arnold and Rose Mary Stayton, who preceded him in death.

Also preceding him in death are his children, Antwain Thurman, Artrena Stayton, and Lamar Staten; 2 grandchildren by Tera (6-16-19 and 11-16-20); his siblings Katinka Houston and Freeman Staten.

Preston attended school in the Sedalia, Chicago and Kansas City School Districts. Although he was a mischievous young man, he spent time in the U.S. Military. He was a bus driver for the Sedalia School District for many years, where he watched a lot of the young people become adults and start families of their own.

Preston had 7 children of his own. Marquita, Antwain and Rosaland Thurman (Regina) Lamar Staten (Denise) Artrena Stayton (Debra) Crystal Granderson (Diane) and Tera N'diaye (Sharon).

Preston united in marriage on August 14, 1989, to Cynthia Cook. Once united with Cynthia, he gained 4 bonus children.

Preston was a carefree and lovable person. He loved to spend time with family and friends and adored his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing cards and dominos and was definitely a pool shark. He loved to dance and listen to music of all genres. At one point, we thought he was Jamaican. He stayed with all the jokes that were gut busting.

Preston leaves to cherish his memory; his wife, Cynthia Stayton (Sedalia, MO); 4 daughters Marquita Maupins (Troi Sr.) of Des Moine, IA, Rosaland Thurman of Kansas City, MO, Crystal Granderson of St. Louis, MO and Tera Ndiaye of Kansas City, MO; bonus children Kimberly Davidson, Christina Senevey, Jeremiah Davidson and Jason Davidson; 33 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 5 brothers and 4 sisters, Ronald, Carson, Charles Jr, Tajuan, Juan, Teresa, Misha, Jannette and Annette; 3 aunts, Ruby Spencer of Springfield, MO, Ethel Oliver of Antioch, CA, and Louise Casey of Raytown, MO; bonus father, Charles Bush, Sr. of Kansas City, MO. and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2022, at Rea Funeral Chapel with Pastor Rusty Thomas officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

Honorary pallbearers will be Troi Maupins, Jr., Christian Beemer, Demond Staten, Michael Granderson, Jr., Kyan Bale, and Cole Davidson.

Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Sedalia, MO.
