Paul "Dutch" Andrew Musslin, 85, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia. He was born on September 10, 1937, in Syracuse, MO, the son of Anthony Andrew Musslin and Bernice Irene (Koenke) Musslin, who preceded him in death.
On July 28, 1962, in Sedalia, MO, he was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Hughes, who resides in the home.
Paul graduated from Edwards Welding School in 1971. After graduation, he worked at DeLongs Welding in Sedalia for 37 years. Paul enjoyed restoring old vehicles. He was always seen around town driving his beautifully restored 1972 Chevy pickup "Blue Thunder." Paul loved NASCAR. His favorite drivers were Jeff Gordon and Chase Elliott. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed mowing and working in his yard, playing pool, puzzles, Rubik's Cube, photography, and listening to Frank Sinatra and Big Band Music. Paul loved to travel. He traveled to all 50 states. His favorite places to travel were Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, and going on cruises. Paul enjoyed staying in shape. He lifted weights, rode on many biking trails, and climbed Mt. Whitney and Camel Back Mountain in Arizona. In his younger years, Paul loved to roller skate and was known for his speed skating and the tricks he could perform. He could often be found at the Sedalia Athletic Club, Total Fitness Gym, and most recently at the Heckart Community Center visiting with his many friends. In the evenings, Paul loved going outdoors to look at the moon. Paul was a strong Democrat supporter.
In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by three sons, Christopher and wife Donna of Kansas City, MO, Jonathan and wife Jessica of Sedalia, MO, Stephen and wife Claire of Gilbert, AZ; two sisters, Gertrude Hunt and Dorothy Musslin; four grandchildren, Harper, Wyatt, Emma, and Grace; adopted daughter, Susana Gonzalez and her children, Cristian and Valentina, state of California; his special family in France, Martine, Laurent, Lana, Lenny, and Anny.
Along with his parents, Paul was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred Musslin, David Musslin, and Dwain Musslin, and three sisters, Barbara Jo McCown, Jean Ransdell, and Martha Schmitt.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Heidi and Jason, Kevin, Dennis, Marty, Quincy, the Allers, and to all the family and friends that reached out to them. Also, thank you to the University Hospital, Columbia, MO, Sylvia G. Thompson Resident Center, Cross Roads Hospice, and Dr. Robert Frederickson.
