Patrick Roberts

Patrick (Mike) Francis William Roberts, 75 of Sedalia, passed away Friday, February 21, 2014 at his home. He was born on May 11, 1938 in Auckland, New Zealand, a son of William Robert and Muriel (Cottingham) Roberts. In April of 1963, in Sedalia, he was united in marriage to Marjorie McKinney, who preceded him in death on April 5, 1994. On February 14, 1981, in Kansas City, MO he was united in marriage to Valerie Vesser, who preceded him in death on June 18, 2011.

Mike was an automotive mechanic and part owner of McKinney Automotive in Sedalia. He was a very talented craftsman and woodworker. He enjoyed building model ships and making carousel horses out of wood. He served his country honorably in the US Marine Corps and later in the US Army, retiring as Sergeant First Class in 1995 after 20 years of service.

He is survived by four children, Danielle Bain (Russell) of Sedalia, Marty Mills of McKinney, TX, Melissa Seward (Michael) of Kansas City, MO, and Ian Roberts of Sedalia; two sisters, Colleen Mather of Sedalia and Peggy Derry (Wayne) of Des Moines, IA; thirteen grandchildren, Jessica, Natalie, Raime, Sarah, Russell, Crisha, Jennifer, Jeanelle, Stephanie, Elizabeth, Charlie, Rene and Christopher; and 9 great grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Callahan.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
