Patricia Ann Wells, 96, of Sedalia, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. She was born on June 21, 1928, in Pittsburg, Kansas, the daughter of Edward O'Connor and Nora Agnes (Leonard) O'Connor, both of whom preceded her in death.
Patricia was the youngest child of two wonderful, loving parents, Edward and Nora, who created a warm and nurturing home for her to grow up in.
Patricia's childhood was filled with joy, laughter, and the steadfast love of her family. Patricia was raised in the same house that she was brought home to after her birth, a testament to the love of her parents, family and community around them. The home was not only a physical space but a place of comfort, where lasting memories were made with friends and where Patricia developed the values that guided her throughout her life's journey.
Patricia will be remembered for her acceptance of everyone, genuine love she showed to those around her, and building bonds that made for meaningful, long lasting relationships. Whether through her devotion to family, faith, and her many friendships, Patricia lived a life rich with intention and connection to all she encountered.
After graduating from St. Mary's Colgan Catholic School in 1948, Patricia married LeRoy Wells in Lawrence, Kansas in 1949, beginning a partnership that spanned 50 years. Their marriage was one of enjoyment, mutual respect, and shared happiness. Together, they owned and operated LeRoy's Steakhouse in Sedalia for many years, which became a beloved local fixture.
Patricia and LeRoy built a life rooted in love and support, and their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them, until his passing on December 19, 1999.
Patricia was known for her love of family gatherings, baking delicious desserts and cooking comforting meals to share. Patricia especially enjoyed moments with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she was not one to shy away from large gatherings in her honor, such as her many birthdays, which were always grand celebrations.
She is survived by her son, Steve Wells and his wife Shelly of Osage Beach, Missouri, and her daughter, Dianne Cable (Jim) of Sedalia. Patricia is also survived by ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews who were dear to her.
In addition to her husband and parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her son, John Wells; her daughter, Denise Smith; three brothers: Bud, Jim, and Charles O'Connor; three sisters: Margaret Turi, Nora O'Connor, and Rosemary O'Connor; and a grandson, Justin Horn.
