Obituary For Nancy Jo Gee

Nancy Jo Gee, 82, of Fortuna, MO, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, MO. She was born on November 4, 1940, in Little Blue, MO, the daughter of Clarence Claus Henry Ficken Sr. and Bernice Thelma (Wehmeyer) Ficken, who preceded her in death.

Nancy was raised in Independence, MO, alongside her sister Sandy. Early in Nancy's life, her family helped to found Calvary Presbyterian Church in Kansas City. This congregation would be at the center of the Ficken family's spiritual and social life. There, she would worship, be baptized, and get married in the church sanctuary her father physically helped construct.

She attended Rock Creek School and graduated in 1959 from Central High School in Kansas City. On June 27, 1959, at the Calvary Presbyterian Church, Kansas City, MO, she was united in marriage to Robert Lee Gee, who preceded her in death on January 30, 2014.

Nancy worked for various manufacturers in Tipton, MO, including Stride Rite and Orvis. She was the billing secretary for the Fortuna Water Department. Nancy and Bob joined the Fortuna Baptist Church in 1998. She enjoyed cousins' lunches, camping, and family gatherings. Nancy made a difference in the lives of many of her "kids" of her life.

Nancy is survived by Kathy Gillam (Mike), Ken Kozak, Rusty Smith (Carla), and Ryan Smith (Lindsey), and other numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Ficken, Jr., a sister, Sandra Smith, and a brother-in-law, Gene Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023, at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Brad Homan officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

The burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia, MO.
Pallbearers will be Aydon McCollum, Mike Gillam, Carsten Smith, Clay Oswald, Randy Kleindienst, and Jacob Klingsheim.

Honorary bearers will be William "Sonny" Oswald, Lanny Marriott, and Mike Leipard.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
