Nancy Desmond Capps, 75, of Sedalia passed away Monday, March 30, 2015 at Sylvia Thompson Residence Center, Sedalia. She was born on February 27, 1940 in Indianapolis, IN a daughter of Hal and Louise (Clark) Desmond, who both have preceded her in death. Nancy graduated high school in Racine, WI and attended Cottey College, Nevada, MO. She was administrative assistant for Thompson Hills Investment Corporation and legal assistant for Adam B. Fischer law office, for many years. Nancy's passion was in music and theater. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time in her garden. She was a member of The United Church of Christ, Sedalia. She is survived by her daughter, Stacey Martin and her husband Jeff of Lee's Summit, MO; one sister, Debbie Sautner and her husband Charles of Racine, WI; one brother, Dan Desmond and his wife Kimberly of Los Angeles, CA; one daughter-in-law, Susan Desmond of Traverse City, MI; five grandchildren, Spencer and Trevor Martin, Anastasia and William Capps and Cody Bergman; one great grandson, Michael Capps. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Brandon Capps and one brother, Craig Desmond. A Celebration of Life and gathering of friends and family will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 9:00 to 11:00 am, at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia. Nancy's family will entomb her ashes at Lee's Summit Christian Church (DOC), Lee's Summit, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to The Liberty Center Association of the Arts.
