Obituary For Monty Allen Ellis

Monty Allen Ellis, 33, of Sedalia, MO, passed away Friday, December 17, 2021, at his home. He was born on March 23, 1988 in Columbia, MO the son of Robert Earl Ellis, who resides in the home, and Helen Patricia (Chewning) Ellis, who preceded him in death. He went to school in the Sedalia School District. He held various jobs in the construction field. For a time he was self employed. Monty loved the Chiefs, family BBQ’s and parties but didn’t really care for trains. Enjoyed music from almost every genre, Lil Wayne, Gun Walk would routinely put a smile on his face. An avid gamer, frequently would hold clinics with family members on Call of Duty Black Ops. Killing zombies was an easy way to waste a couple of hours. Sometimes he was referred to as “The Cute One” which made his sisters mad. He liked going fishing with family even if they never got a bite. There were times when he would argue with family or friends just to get them going. All the while with a glimmer in his eye and a big grin on his face. Just a couple of weeks ago he figured out that he could still drive a car and how easy it was. Monty loved his family and friends!! In addition to his father, he is survived by his siblings, Sherri Miller of Sedalia; David Wirtz and his wife Donna of Sedalia, Jon Wirtz of Sedalia, Mary VanWagner and her husband Roger of Dixon, MO, Matthew Wirtz and his wife Amber of Smithton, Willard Wirtz and his wife Trish of Stover, and Lukas Ellis of Sedalia; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Helen Chewning; his nephew, Jonathan Eade; his uncle, Milferd Monteer; his cousins, Timothy Monteer and Daniel Schnider; and his best friend Jake Randall. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Rea Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Honorary bearers will be Duane Hansen, Lincoln Moore, Denver Brattain, Lukas Ellis, Phelicia VanWagner, Tiffany Hansen, Brittany Miller, David Doyle, Christopher Nicholson, Tricia Cornine, Matthew Wirtz, Willard Wirtz, Jr., Jacob VanWagner, Jonathan Wirtz, Rachel Gardner, Derek Wirtz, and Kevin Lee.
