Mitchell "Mitch" Dale Foster, 65, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO. He was born on March 18, 1959, in Sedalia, MO, the son of Jerry Paul Foster and Helen Marie (Kelling) Foster, who preceded him in death.
On September 28, 2007, in Sedalia, he was united in marriage to Sylvia Lynndel Langan, who resides in the home.
A proud graduate of Smith-Cotton High School, Class of 1978, Mitch worked at Duke Manufacturing for 15 years in 240 Woodshop for restaurant equipment. He was known for his exceptional craftsmanship, work ethic, and dedication to his job, often going above and beyond to help his colleagues. His family and friends admired his positivity, upbeat spirit, and willingness to bring joy to those around him.
Mitch deeply loved his family, especially his wife, Sylvia, and daughter, Lindi. He had a special bond with his animals and cherished their companionship. In his younger years, Mitch enjoyed woodworking and could create just about anything with his hands. He found happiness in simple pleasures, spending time at home with his family, listening to music of all genres, and staying entertained with YouTube for news, music, and fun.
An avid collector of many things throughout his life. His love for animals was profound, especially birds and cats. His favorite color was yellow, reflecting his bright personality and zest for life. Mitch's presence always brought light and laughter to those around him, and he was known for being a proud husband, father, and brother who cherished moments spent with all his extended family.
In addition to his wife, Sylvia, Mitch is survived by his daughter, Lindi Lynndel Foster, of the home; three sisters, Mary Foster Pohl (Floyd), Sue Foster (Dean Gaylord), and Renee Conrad (John); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members including Heather Hughes, Emily Nicholson, Ronette Schulte, Russell Porter, Meritt Samson, and Shaun Porter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Eugene "Gene" C. Hazelhorst, Farrell A. Hazelhorst, and M. Thomas "Tom" Hazelhorst; two sisters, Karen K. Hazelhorst Porter and Carole Jean Ecoppi Witzig; a brother-in-law, Joseph C. Witzig, Jr.; and his paternal grandparents, Turner and Mary Foster.
A celebration of life gathering with family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Rea Funeral Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sedalia Animal Shelter or Pawsibilities Are Endless in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
