Obituary For Michael Eugene Smith

Michael Eugene Smith, 68, of La Monte, MO formerly of Sedalia, passed away Friday, January 7, 2022, at Bothwell Regional Health Center. He was born on April 6, 1953 in Sedalia the son of Frank Melvin Smith, who preceded him in death, and Norma Jean (Wilcox) Smith-Kabler, who resides in Sedalia.

He married his best friend and love of his life, Kathy Gregory, on June 2, 1973 in Sedalia, MO who resides in the home.

Michael always had a smile, he loved people, and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He never met a stranger. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. Michael will be sadly missed by all who loved and knew him.

Along with his wife, mother and step-father, Roy Kabler, he is survived by a daughter, Melissa (Smith) Viebrock of Versailles, MO; six grandchildren, Kaylee, Alexis, Madison, Keirsten, Kyndel, and Kyla; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Vicky Riley (Tim); nephew, Joshua Riley; niece, Lindsay Ream (Mark) and their son, Jayce all of Sedalia; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Along with his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Smith.

Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Pastor Nate Walter officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the chapel.

Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia, MO.

Pallbearers will be Marty Thomas, Frank Rouchka, John Schwenk, Skyler Viebrock, Phil Cromley and Nathan Taylor.

Memorial contributions may be made to ALS Association in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
