Melva K. Green, 89, of Smithton, MO passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Fair View Nursing Home in Sedalia, MO. She was born on September 1,1928 in Smithton, the daughter of Melvin and Kate (Smith) May, who preceded her in death.
On June 7, 1975 she was united in marriage to William "Billy Bob" Green, who preceded her in death on November 3, 2014.
Melva graduated from the University of Central Missouri with her Masters Degree in elementary education and taught in the Sedalia School District and many rural schools. She enjoyed watching birds and baseball. She was a member of the Otterville Presbyterian Church and loved reading her Bible.
Survivors include her daughter Renee Edgar (Robert) of Versailles, MO; two granddaughters, Megan and Sarah; four great grandchildren; a niece Connie Ehlers (Johnnie); and several great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband Billy Bob Green, she was preceded in death by her first husband Ralph Woodford, brother Marvin Lee May, and nephew Bill May.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, MO with Pastors Randy and Diane Marcum, officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at Rea Funeral Chapel.
Burial will be at Smithton Cemetery, Smithton, MO.
Pallbearers will be Stanley Sawford, Richard Helmig, Billy May, Jr., Clint May, Curtis May, and Robert Edgar.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
