Obituary For Mary Wear

Mary Eileen Wear, 93, of Sedalia went home to be with the Lord Jesus on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia. She was born on March 3, 1923 in Springfield, MO the youngest daughter of Dewitt C. and Helen G (Davies) Hollingsworth, who preceded her in death.

As a young woman she worked for Southwestern Bell and was a fashion model in Springfield. Mary was united in marriage to Charles W. Wear on February 7, 1947. They were blessed with four children, Charles W. Wear, Jr. and his wife Janet of Dallas, TX, Deborah S. Brunk and her husband Robert of Kansas City, Mary E. "Libby" Frates and her husband Bruce of Sedalia, and Eugene C. Wear and his wife Vicki of Columbia, MO; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mary was a loving and kind person who dearly loved her family. She was active in her Catholic parish, St. Agnes, and a member of the Alter Society, where she volunteered to help with many school and church activities. Mary and her husband Charlie loved to dance together. They lived most of their lives in Springfield, but moved to Jefferson City in 1999 to be closer to family. Following her husband's passing, she then moved with family to Sedalia.

Rosary and visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 421 W. 3rd St., Sedalia, MO.

Father Mark Miller, C.PP.S will officiate.

Burial will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield at a later date.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Sacred Heart School Foundation in Mary’s name.
