Mary Jeanne Rimmel-Barnes, 91, of Sedalia, MO, passed away Friday, March 10, 2017 at Good Samaritan Care Center in Cole Camp, Missouri. She was born on June 28, 1925 in Fontana, California, the daughter of Carl and Elsie (Plante) Rimmel, who preceded her in death.
On December 15, 1945 she was united in marriage to Houston Barnes, who preceded her in death on March 11, 1980.
Mary loved volunteering to serve in many local organizations and charities. She was active in the Altar Guild of Calvary Episcopal Church, and was a long time member of the Eastern Star and White Shrine. She was a very loving and caring mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by three children, Pamela Brabitz (Lee) of Merritt Island, FL, Houston Palmer Barnes, III (Ophelia) of Columbia, KY, and Jennie Guerrini (Dale) of Sedalia, MO; four grandchildren, Wendy Fowler, Michael Brabitz, Joleen Guerrini and Daniel Guerrini; and three great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death be her son Richard Eubank Barnes and her sisters Anna Marcille Townsend and Frieda DeCarli.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Calvary Episcopal Church, Sedalia, MO, with Rev. Anne Meredith Kyle officiating.
Visitation will be one our prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Springfield National Cemetery, Springfield, MO.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Episcopal Church or charity of the donor's choice in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
