Mary Annette "Netta" Pettis, 69, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on March 9, 2025, at her home. She was born on August 14, 1955, in Warrensburg, MO, the daughter of Sidney Carl Mefford and Frances Anna Louise (Keltner) Mefford, who preceded her in death.
On January 5, 1980, in Sedalia, MO, she was united in marriage to Richard Wade Pettis, who preceded her in death on August 20, 2017. They were happily married for 37 years.
Netta was a 1973 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. She worked many years at Inter-State Studio, Wal-Mart, and most recently, Loftus Early Childhood Center, where she spent her final years surrounded by laughter and joy. In her free time, she enjoyed cheering on The Kansas City Chiefs, quilting, crafting, spending time with friends and family, and spoiling her grandchildren. Her proudest roles in life were that of a loving grandmother, mother, and wife. Her family will cherish the memories they have of her and the love that she shared with them all.
Netta is survived by a son, Michael Pettis (Amanda Davis) of Sedalia; a daughter, Heather Wilson (Josh) of Satellite Beach, FL; nine grandchildren, Ryder Pettis, Scarlett Pettis, Addison Guffin, Ella Brown, Olen Pettis, Brody Gerlach, Piper Gerlach, Liam Wilson, and Lyla Wilson; three brothers, Phillip Mefford (Connie) of Sedalia, Thomas Mefford (Angel) of Sedalia, David Mefford (Ramona) of Sedalia; two sisters, Rebecca Tharp of Mahomet, IL and Martha Mefford of Sedalia; a daughter-in-law, Amanda Pettis; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents, Netta was preceded in death by a son, Brian Pettis.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Clint Noble officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
The burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Sedalia.
Honorary bearers will be Netta's grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Research Institute.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
