Mary E. McCarty

Mary E. McCarty, 92, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia. She was born on December 14, 1931, in Pettis County, MO, the daughter of Arnold Ferguson George and Alice (Houseworth) George, who preceded her in death.

She was united in marriage to Robert E. McCarty on April 18, 1954, in Windsor, MO, who preceded her in death on February 3, 2023.

Mary attended Bryson Grade School and graduated from Windsor High School in 1949. After graduation, she attended Sedalia Central Business College, where she received her degree in business management. Mary worked for Union Savings Bank as a bookkeeper and later for several years as an office manager at Town and Country Shoes Credit Union.

Mary was a member of Broadway Presbyterian Church, the Pettis County Historical Society, and the Sedalia Sorosis Club. Mary was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, genealogy, family history, sewing, and refinishing antique furniture.

Survivors include a son, Dan McCarty of Sedalia; a sister, Sara Campbell of Clinton, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private graveside service will be held by the family at a later date in Green Ridge Cemetery, Green Ridge, MO.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
