Obituary For Mary Beth Kamphefner

Mary Beth Kamphefner, 63, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at E.W. Thompson in Sedalia. She was born on April 7, 1960, in Sedalia, the daughter of Leonard Harms and Lois Fern (Tucker) Gerken, who preceded her in death.

Mary loved to crappie fish at Dock 3 on Truman Lake. She also enjoyed making many different crafts and attending craft shows. She loved baking and teaching others to bake. Her favorites included making chocolate sheet cakes, red velvet cakes, and lazy peach pies. Mary also read many books in her free time. Nora Roberts was her favorite author. One of her favorite past times was attending the Robert Woolery Sr. Memorial PowWow at the Missouri State Fair Grounds. She was a distant cousin to Green Feather. She loved her dog, Pebbles. She worked at Inter-State Studios for several years, retiring from there due to the decline in her health. She was a social butterfly. She didn't know a stranger and would talk to anyone. She will be greatly missed.

Mary is survived by two children, Heather Zimmerschied and Amy Hunn; six grandchildren, Kamron Heyer, Michael Seaman, Shadow Hunn, Lacy Hall, Kiersten Seaman, Sabastian Mahnesmith; and two siblings, Jim Harms (Shirley) and Deborah Riggs.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her step-father, Arthur Gerken; a daughter, Audrey Heyer; three siblings, Patricia Fail, Linda Edwards, and Carol Brauer.

A celebration of life gathering with family and friends will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Rea Funeral Chapel.
