Marvin Lester Meek, 73, of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at his home. He was born on March 2, 1944 in Saline County near Marshall, MO, the son of John Henry and Alma R. (Heying) Meek, who preceded him in death.
On August 13, 1966 in Houstonia, MO, he was united in marriage to Bessie Sue Rhodus, who resides of the home.
He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War in 1967 and 1968 where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He worked for International Shoe Company in Marshall, MO and later for Hayes Wheels for over 21 years retiring in 2000. Marvin enjoyed farming, working on all kinds of motors, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Bessie he is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Griffith (Ron) of Lincoln and Julie Batusic of Warrensburg; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2017 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Rev. Donnie Hayworth officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the chapel.
Burial will be at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2017 with full military honors conducted by VFW Post #2591 and the Missouri Army National Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg in care of Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
