Martha Jean Stackhouse, 88, of Sedalia passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Bothwell Regional Health Center, Sedalia. She was born on October 18, 1928 in Lowry City, MO the daughter of Ora and Katie (Ashinhurst) Tally, who have preceded her in death.
On August 20, 1960 at Calvary Baptist Church of Kansas City, MO she was united in marriage to Wayne Stackhouse, who survives of the home.
When Martha was a teenager she accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She attended and graduated Warsaw High School. After graduation, she moved to Kansas City and served as church secretary at Calvary Baptist Church. After marriage, she worked with her husband at Stackhouse Tax Service as secretary and office manager. She enjoyed teaching her ladies' Sunday School class for over fifty years and faithfully attended every worship service held. She also enjoyed traveling in the West, gardening, canning and sewing. She dearly loved her grandchildren.
She is survived by her two daughters, Shirley (Jeff ) Carver and Sandra (Tom) McMullin all of Sedalia; five grandsons, Matthew Carver, Caleb Carver, Jacob Carver. Clinton McMullin and Cole McMullin; two great grandchildren and one on the way; and one sister, Marcine Wooldridge of Warsaw, MO.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia with Dr. Daryl Stagg, officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Sedalia.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Carver, Caleb Carver, Jacob Carver. Clinton McMullin, Cole, McMullin and Don Morton.
Memorial contributions are suggested to East Sedalia Baptist Church in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
