Martha Ann Van Wert, 76, of Sedalia, MO passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. She was born on October 19, 1945 in Boonville, MO the daughter of Ray Gensler and Anna (Vieth) Gensler, who preceded her in death.
In May of 1980, in Sedalia, she was united in marriage to Forrest "Skip" Richard Van Wert, who preceded her in death on August 20, 1992.
After graduating high school she attended IBM school and worked for Phillips 66 in Oklahoma. After moving from Oklahoma to Louisiana, she shortly traveled to Wisconsin and back to Sedalia where she got married, bought a home, and attended church at Faith Word Center and taught at their school. Marti loved gardening, working on her home, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Phillips and Kari Kruse (Charlie) all of Sedalia; two grand-daughters, Jordyn Phillips and Ashlee Qualls (Jody); six great-grandchildren; a brother, James Gensler (Bonnie) of Lincoln, MO; a sister, Debbie Pena (Jesus) of Concord, CA.
In addition to her husband and parents, Marti was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Brittany Moreland and Alyssa Shelledy.
There will be no services held at this time.
Memorial contributions may be made to Epilepsy Foundation Missouri & Kansas in care of the Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
