Obituary For Marlin Brown

James Marlin Brown, 70, of Sedalia passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO. He was born on November 20, 1945 in Maryville, MO, the son of James Leon and Dorothy Elizabeth (Rimel) Brown, who preceded him in death.

On June 20, 1970 in Maryville, MO, he was united in marriage to Jean Ann Robertson, who survives of the home.

Marlin came to know his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 12, 1956 and surrendered to the gospel ministry in November of 1964. His entire ministry was in Missouri, serving as Pastor of Worth, New Harmony, Alanthus, and Gentryville. Marlin then served as Minister of Education at First Baptist Windsor, Director of Missions of Northwest Baptist Mission Group, Minister of Education at First Baptist Grandview and then at First Baptist Warrensburg. Marlin came to Sedalia in 1989 to begin serving as Director of Missions for Harmony Baptist Association and served for 21 years. Two months after retiring Marlin began work at First Baptist Sedalia as Associate Pastor of Administration and served there until November 20, 2015. He demonstrated his love for Jesus Christ by faithfully serving the people of these fine churches. Besides his wife, Jean, Marlin is survived by a son, Jared Robertson Brown (Jamie) of Republic, MO; two grandchildren, Jackson and Zoe; a father-in-law, Olin Robertson of Springfield, MO; sister-in-law, Carol (Robertson) Chavez (Richard) of Springfield, MO; two nieces, Carrie Bowles (Michael) of Frederick, MD and Alana Chavez of Plano, TX; four cousins, Dwayne Ham (Linda) of St. Joseph, MO, Jerry Ham (Dixie) of Gallatin, MO, Kirby Ham (Pattie) of Union Star, MO and Susan Voight of Gillette, WY; and his lifelong best friend, Glenn Morrow of Maryville, MO. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at First Baptist Church, Sedalia, with Dr. Drew Hill, Dr. Doyle Sager and Dr. Glenn Sparks officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at First Baptist Church, Sedalia.

Burial will be at Olive Branch Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tony Chapman, Chad Harter, Eric Hughes, Don Kessinger, Kelly Krumm, Tony Larm, Adam Tilley, and Jimmy Woodall.

Honorary bearers will be the Deacons of First Baptist Church, Sedalia.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Global Missions in care of Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
