On September 16, 1956, in Independence, MO, he was united in marriage to Diana Zimmerman, who preceded him in death on March 16, 1968. Then on May 29, 1969, in Prairie Village, KS, he was united in marriage to Diane B. Burton, who resides in the home.
Marion's faith was a major part of his life. He was a member of the Lenexa Baptist Church in Lenexa, KS, and had been a member of the Sabino Road Baptist Church in Tucson, AZ, and the Calvary Baptist Church in Sedalia. He took pride in the fact that all five of his sons achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. In 2005, Marion and his daughter hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon to camp for three days, despite her not being an Eagle Scout. Marion was always physically active and fit, being able to hold a plank for 90 seconds until he was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, a brain tumor, in May of this year. Marion enjoyed hiking, scouting, and collecting model trains.
