Marcella K. Summers

June 10, 1953 — January 17, 2025

Marcella Kay Summers, 71, of Hollister, Missouri, passed away Friday, January 17, 2025, in Creve Coeur, Missouri.

She was born at home in Coffey, Missouri on June 10, 1953, the first child of James William Carroll and Betty June (Gardner) Carroll.

Her early years were spent in Coffey, MO. and Pattonsburg, MO. She started school in Coffey and graduated from Coffey High School in 1971.

In 1969, she met Richard Neil Summers who would become her husband on March 20, 1971. Upon marriage they established their home in Bethany, MO, where Richard began working for the Bethany Skelgas Services.

During this season of life Richard and Marcella started a family. Marcella became the proud mother of 3 children. Shawn, born in October 1971, Richelle, born in October 1974, and Daniel, born in August 1983.

In 1988, Richard and Marcella moved to Macon, MO. During this time, Marcella began a career at U.S. Bank as a bank teller. In 2008, Richard and Marcella moved from Macon, MO to Sedalia, MO. Marcella was the church librarian for many years and led Mission Friends as well.

After retirement Richard & Marcella left the cold winters of MO behind and headed south. They settled in Lindale, TX in June of 2019. After Richard's untimely death in 2020, Marcella relocated once again to Hollister, MO in October 2022. She looked most forward to seeing the beautiful fall color in the Missouri Ozarks from her condo on Lake Taneycomo. During much of her two year fight with cancer, she lived in the St. Louis, Missouri area with her son, Shawn.
