Raymond Edgar “Mac” McCullough, 74, of Sedalia, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013 at his home. He was born on November 21, 1938 in Albion, Michigan. Edgar and Adah McCullough, who preceded him in death, welcomed Mac as an adopted son to their home when he was six years old.
On November 13, 1984 in Sedalia he was united in marriage to Trudy Hotsenpiller, who survives of the home.
Mac graduated from Washington Gardner High School in Albion. He worked for forty years as a salesman before retiring from Coca Cola Co. in Sedalia. He loved fishing in his younger years. He also enjoyed playing the lottery. Mac’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the delights of his life. The many hours he spent with them were his most cherished. Mac was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force as a Ground Radio Operator.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Bob McCullough and his wife Maymie of Smithton, and David McCullough and his wife Lori of Sedalia; one step-son, Jim Lawson of Clinton; one step-daughter, Jamie Poppinga of Sedalia; two brothers, Harry Kyser and his wife Faith of Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and Gary Cooper of Albion, Michigan; one sister, Noreen Moore of Phoenix, Arizona; one sister-in-law, Nancy Sigaty of Rio Verde, Arizona; eleven grandchildren, Joseph McCullough and his wife Nicki, Joshua McCullough and his wife Ashley, Lindsey McCullough, India McCullough and her husband Devin Wiley, Paige Reque and her husband Kevin, Kearn McCullough, Whitney Poppinga, Courtney Poppinga, Josh Breden, Jeff Breden, Chris Breden; eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Alan Verchereau, Donnie Adams, and Richard Globenski.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, July 22, 2013 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, with Rev. Ted Francis officiating. Burial will be at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, with full military honors being conducted graveside by Whiteman Air Force Base Honor Guard and American Legion 223.
Pallbearers will be Joseph McCullough, Joshua McCullough, Kearn McCullough, Chris Kyser, John Poppinga, and Devin Wiley.
The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel Sunday. July 21, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm with a Masonic service being conducted at 7:00 pm by Masonic Lodge 272 AF&AM.
