Obituary For Lynn Hartley

Lynn Ronald Hartley, 71, of Hughesville, MO, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at the Hospice House of Kansas City, MO. He was born on December 20, 1943 in Ozark County, MO, a son of Glenn Velmer and Dorothy Saless (Herd) Hartley, who preceded him in death. On November 7, 1969 in Sedalia, MO, he was united in marriage to Kay Beth Sprinkles, who survives of the home. Lynn graduated from SMSU with a mathematics degree and then went on to receive his master’s degree in fire protection engineering from CMSU. He worked as a fire protection engineer designing and testing industrial fire protection systems. He specialized in systems for large plants like Ford and Boeing. In his spare time, he enjoyed going fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. Lynn served his country honorably in the United States Army as a field combat medic through the Vietnam War. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Lynn Harding of Hughesville, MO; two sisters, Ruby Sievert (Carl) of Seymore, MO, and Sharon Keeland (Roy) of Independence, MO; one brother, Bob Hartley (Phyllis) of Springfield, MO; six grandchildren, Anna Wolford-Perez, Tyler Surritt (Erin), Madison Hontz (Kevin), Shelby Harding, Alison Harding, and Zane Harding; four great grandchildren, Keith, Landon, Emmalynn, and Madalynn; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Maryann Hathcock; and his in-laws, Lester and Nellie Sprinkles. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2015 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, with Pastor Robert Sisney officiating. Full Military honors will be conducted by the VFW Post#2591. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 29, 2015 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at the chapel. Interment will be at a later date Mt. Herman Cemetery, Sedalia, MO. Honorary bearers will be Beryl McCoy, Frank Sprinkles, Jimmie Wise, Jon Wise, Richard Sprinkles, Dennis Harding, and Shaun Sprinkles. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, or the Hospice House of Kansas City, in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
